An invitation to join…

It is a great privilege to serve at the Altar of God!  For this reason, Servers are chosen among the young boys and girls of Blessed Junipero Serra Parish who display a desire for a more intimate union with our loving Savior who becomes present on the Altar.

Our parish has Altar Servers (boys and girls), who start after their First Communion and continue for as long as we can keep them.  They have a solemn responsibility to do their assigned duties with dignity and reverence.  Their participation in this ministry is a sacred and joyful response to God’s love.

The primary role of the altar server is to assist the priest in the celebration of the Mass. This is done through specific actions and by setting an example to the congregation by active participation in the liturgy. Our Servers are invited to grow in their understanding of the importance of prayer and liturgy in their lives. Through their service around the Eucharistic table, our young members are encouraged to bring Christ into all they do - at home, in school, and in their daily lives.

All young members of Blessed Junipero Serra Parish who think they may desire to serve are encouraged join this wonderful ministry.

We invite you to fill out an Altar Server Ministry form and bring this to the parish office or request an usher to leave this in the Altar Server vesting room. Prior to serving, ministry members attend an initial training session, as well as an annual workshop.  Servers are scheduled to assist during the Masses they normally attend.
